Lugano (Switzerland) – this Swiss town is located on Lake Lugano. As part of the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, it is only 70 km from Milan. Now one of the main financial centers of the country, it’s also packed with culture and boasts three cathedrals. It’s been dubbed the ‘Monte Carlo of Switzerland’ due to its increasing celebrity presence.
Lake Lugano, located between Lake Como and Lake Maggiore, offers visitors the opportunity to take a boat ride and discover the diversity of the region. There is Morcote, with its grand mansions and the church of Santa Maria del Sasso, an important Renaissance building with a late-Romanesque bell-tower offering outstanding views, or Gandria, a perfect example of a little fishing village by Lake Lugano.
