Castillo de Meersburg

Meersburg Castle (Schloßplatz 10, 88709 Meersburg, Germany) – facing Lake Constance (with Switzerland on the other side), this castle looks back on more than one thousand years of European history and, according to legend and a tradition dating back to 1548, can trace its origins to the 7th century and the Merovingian Dynasty under King Dagobert I. Like growth rings, walls bear witness to the desire to build of previous owners who turned Meersburg into a fortress that was never stormed or destroyed at all. The castle is privately owned. It has been open to the public as a museum since 1878. Admission: €12.80 per person. Hours: 9:00 am – 6:30 pm (daily / April – October); 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (daily / November – March).
